Princess Kate Reveals the Surprising Thing Prince Louis, 7, Is Stashing ‘Everywhere’

The Princess of Wales says that Prince Louis has a new habit of hiding something surprising around the house.

Princess Catherine and Prince William are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, and the Princess of Wales made the revelation about her youngest son during her Scouts outing with first lady Melania Trump in Windsor on Sept. 18.

While chatting with Chief Scout Dwayne Fields during the event at Frogmore Gardens, the Princess of Wales, 43, said that Prince Louis is collecting conkers, the seeds of horse chestnut trees, which fall to the ground during autumn.

“We keep finding conkers in cupboards, in his bed – conkers everywhere!” Princess Catherine said, Hello! magazine reported.

The Princess of Wales added that Louis even puts the conkers in his toy trucks to play with them.

Conkers are central to the historic children’s game of the same name, which involves knocking two seeds together to break the weaker. While the game has fallen out of fashion, Historic U.K. states that conkers are “still avidly collected by children all over Britain” — including Louis!

Princess Catherine and Melania, 55, spent time with young members of the Scouts’ Squirrels program on Thursday during their first joint outing on the last day of President Donald Trump’s state visit to the U.K.

The Princess of Wales is a proud supporter of the Scouts as the organization’s Joint President and Fields exclusively tells PEOPLE about the context of her comment about the conkers.

“The princess shared a story about her kids and collecting things like conkers when they go for walks,” Fields says. “For me, that was very much in line with what the young people were talking about and another example of her making it very personable and inviting the young people into who she is and the fact that she is a mum as well — as is Mrs. Trump.”

The Chief Scout adds that Princess Catherine “always mentions her young children” and is adept at making young people feel comfortable.

“It’s clear that as a mum, that’s something really special to her. She recognizes that sharing stories about her own young people with young people is a great way to build a connection,” Fields says.
